There’s plenty to explore in this vibrant and energetic city within walking distance from Capital House student accommodation. There’s a multitude of bars, cafés and restaurants in the vicinity as well as a number of stores including Zara, Argos, Marks & Spencer and Ikea.
A shortwalk will take you to Mayflower Park on the water’s edge where you can while away the day watching famous cruise liners set sail including the Queen Mary II. It’s also the place to be for events including the annual Southampton Boat Show, music festivals, sports and one of the city’s premier firework displays. At the seafront, you’ll also discover an array of piers and rocky caves.
Home to a 25 metre national short course championship pool, The Quays Swimming and Diving Complex, reached in less than a seven minute walk is a great place to unwind or workout. Plus, there’s a striking sea-front cinema, dry ski slope, theatre and music entertainment. Watersports too are understandably plentiful – from windsurfing to yachting on the Solent.
The city will continue to thrive due to its huge regeneration plans so it’s a great place to be. Should you wish to explore beyond the city, Southampton bus station and Central Train Station are only a short distance away. We recommend visiting Bournemouth Beach – it’s only a half hour train ride away and it’s definitely worth a visit.
