UK students demand compensation after strike details announced

Alex Wright February 08th, 2018

With 61 institutions set to be disrupted by strike actions over staff pension changes, students are left wondering how this will impact their degrees.

The upcoming strikes are being dubbed "the most extensive strike action ever seen". From February 22nd lectures, tutorials and seminars are set to be disrupted.

Students have been left angry and feel this could seriously impact the education they pay £9000 a year to receive. However students generally appear in support of the University staff's industrial action. The National Union of Students sent a message of solidarity accross and called on universities to reopen negotiations.

The frustration however lies with the lack of consideration of students throughout the dispute.

A petition started by students at The University of York is demanding £300 of compensation for every student that loses contact time in the upcoming strike action.
