As a city with two of the country’s best universities it is no surprise Sheffield has some great bars! Here are 5 you need to pay a visit whilst you are studying in the city.
At the heart of Division Street this Sheffield city centre pub is a popular student hotspot. Decorated with a nod to Sheffield’s famous local music scene, you can expect to see vinyl records aloft behind the bar and paintings of iconic musicians displayed on the walls. As a member of CAMRA there is a great selection of drinks and an affordable food menu making it well within a student budget. The Frog & Parrot also hosts live bands and djs on a weekend. This gives it a great atmosphere on a weekend and is the ideal place to start your night!
A walking distance from The University of Sheffield, this renovated hotel is ideal for students looking for an escape from working on campus. The Doctors Order’s prides itself on quality pub food, wines cocktails and real ales. Tuesday remains its most popular night for students with 3 for 2 on cocktails and one of the city’s best pub quizzes from 9pm onwards. We cannot recommend this pub highly enough, if you don’t believe us; The Doctor’s Orders were awarded the best student pub at the 2016 Great British pub awards. So be sure to check it out!
The University of Sheffield student’s union hosts Bar One and it is everything a student could want. Bar One hosts a range of events from karaoke nights to pub quizzes, whilst showing the best live sport all while you and your mates are sat around a nice comfy sofa. Why even leave campus when you have all this right at the heart of your university. Being in the SU you can expect a friendly atmosphere full of likeminded students. Psst it is so good it might even be worth a visit for Hallam students as well!
