Compare Student Rooms guide to making the most of freshers week!
Fresher’s week is an exciting time; you will meet some great new people and explore a totally new city.
But it can also be intense so Compare Student Rooms wanted to hand down some advice. Here are our
five tips to make the most of your fresher’s week.
Your first year of University is not like anything else you will experience.
Everybody is in the same boat and desperate to make friends. Don’t let that pressure you, embrace it. Join societies,
go introduce yourself to your neighbours this is a once in a life time opportunity.
Really push yourself out of your comfort zone and make the most of this time.
You will feel the benefit in the long term!
Days in bed and ready meals are often considered staples of student life. But they don’t need to be.
During the excitement it can be easy to forget about looking after yourself.
Going to the gym or cooking a healthy meal is a great way to spend your free time.
Plus the exercise actually helps you recover from your hangover!.
Not only that it will keep you fit and healthy.
Homesickness is normal everyone feels it at some time.
During the excitement it can be easy to forget about calling home.
Sometimes a quick chat with a family member or friend will really help you.
So putting aside half an hour of your day to call home
its nothing really and will make you feel 100 times better.
Don’t be afraid to say no to a night out. You will at times be exhausted,
give yourself some down time. Relax, watch Netflix, read a book whatever you enjoy doing.
You have the whole year to go out ignore your FOMO and just take a night off if you need it.
In the grand scheme of things you won’t be missing much.
Fresher’s week is not the real university experience.
It is an ice breaker, if you feel like you can’t live like this, then don’t worry you won’t.
Over the year you will have lectures, seminars and deadlines.
So naturally things will calm down and you will form a routine. So relax and enjoy your first week.
